tree trimming

Tree Trimming, also known as Pruning, is a practice involving the selective removal of certain parts of a plant or tree, such as branches, buds, or roots. Reasons to prune plants include deadwood removal, shaping (by controlling or directing growth), improving or maintaining health, and reducing risk from falling branches. This process targets the removal of diseased, damaged, dead, non-productive, and structurally unsound limbs. Our experts are knowledgeable about how and when to trim in order to ensure the tree can compartmentalize the wound and thus limit the potential for pathogen intrusion and decay.

stump grinding

Most times a homeowner will want to have a stump removed to address the aesthetic of where a tree has been removed. Instead of removing the stump or leaving it flush cut, an additional option is to use a stump grinder or stump cutter to remove the tree stump. The grinder uses a rotating cutting disc to chip away the wood. This process, of using a high-speed disk with teeth that grind the stump and roots into small chips, leaves a depression which can be covered over with fill dirt and seed allow newly planted grass to flourish and grow green. Additionally, our machine has a blade which allows us to push the mulch back in the work area to help ensure a fully ground stump.

firewood

Simply put, firewood is any wooden material that is gathered and used for fuel. In the tree removal industry, we come across a great deal of wooden material which can be recycled as firewood for home heating or business purposes. We offer both pre-cut firewood by the face cord which can be picked up or delivered, as well as outdoor burner rounds. Depending on your needs, the firewood can be seasoned (dry) or unseasoned (fresh/wet) and includes the options of hardwood such as Oak, Maple, Cherry or Hickory, or softer woods like Pine or Cottonwood.

tree removals

Tree Removals may occur for a variety of reasons including clearing growth for a more aesthetic landscape or eliminating a diseased or dead tree. Tree Removals differ from Tree Trimming in that the entire plant is removed and either a stump is left and flush cut, or the stump is ground.  Depending on the type of tree and the customer's wishes, the wood from the larger branches and trunk may be left onsite for firewood or hauled away for disposal. But before being used as firewood, J’s assesses whether the wood can be milled for boards, turned for furniture legs or other options for good hardwood.

lot clearing

A brush hog or "bush hog" is a type of rotary mower to clear overgrown land. Depending on the circumstances, either our mower deck or forestry head can be attached to the Caterpillar track machine. Our forestry head is a rugged mulching head that can process trees up to 8” diameter for effective land clearing. Both attachments designed for brush clearing, vegetation management, and reclaiming untitled land.

arborist consultation

An arborist by definition is one who is trained in the art and science of planting, caring for, and maintaining individual trees. These skilled individuals are experienced in the needs of trees, and are trained and equipped to provide proper care. Proper tree care is an investment that can lead to substantial returns. Well cared-for trees are attractive and can add considerable value to your property. Poorly maintained trees can be a significant liability. Trees in urban landscape settings are often subject to disturbances, whether human or natural, both above and below ground. They may require care to improve their chances of survival following damage from either biotic or abiotic causes. Arborists can provide appropriate solutions, such as pruning trees for health and good structure, for aesthetic reasons, and to permit people to walk under them (a technique often referred to as "crown raising"), or to keep them away from wires, fences and buildings (a technique referred to as "crown reduction").

brush chipping

Brush chipping is an expedient and excellent process when trimming or removing a tree. It's less time consuming and therefore more economical than hauling, and less polluting than burning the brush. However some customers choose to keep the chip mulch for landscaping their property. Whereas certain types of wood chips are an excellent topper for gardens, for those who wish to keep their chips, one of our Arborists can provide consultation based on their intended use. For example, putting chips around the trees helps hold in moisture and provide a slow-release of nutrition to feed the root system. Wood chips are also an awesome covering for pathways, play areas or parking.
